Can cheek biting lead to cancer?

Cheek biting might seem like a regular thing that you do every day. But in the long run, it could harm you. So if you are someone who regularly bites your cheeks or chews on it, it’s about time you stopped as it can even lead to cancer.

The broken sensation of the bitten skin creates an additional compulsion to ‘smooth out’ the affected area by biting again, perpetuating the habit.

“Pain and ulcers are the most harmless outcomes. However, ulcers can cause problems, as they are liable to get bitten again once formed. Deep and repeated cheek biting is this most dangerous as this can cause the problems in the buccal mucosa that may, in the worst (and extremely rare) instances, lead to increased risk of oral cancer due to changes in the cheek tissue which can eventually result in changes to the cells,” one of the experts noted.

Studies are still being conducted about the validity of this claim but to be on the safer side, it’s better to stop biting your cheeks voluntarily as it leads to nothing good.

Is wine vegan? Here’s the truth

If you thought that wine was vegan, think again. A new study has revealed that some wine brands add animal proteins during the manufacturing of their products.

According to Ginger Hultin, of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, manufacturers use fining agents to make the wine clear. The commonly used fining agents are casein (a milk protein), albumin (egg white), gelatin (animal protein) and isinglass (fish bladder protein).

In most cases, no residues from these products are left in the wine. But then again, the usage of animal proteins during the production of a food item is also against the concept of vegans.
